It was an amazing experience wrapping up a project and jumping on a new one with so many lessons learned to guide me on this next book. It has been months already that I've been working on this next project simultaneously finalizing the publishing side(edits, cover design, formatting with my amazing editor and book designer) of the book "In the Light, We breathe Out". I am not promoting it yet as I am waiting for the hard copies to be released within a few weeks.
So about this new project. The gestation period is finished, but I still need more research to be able to get into the deep dive of editing every poems that will be included or rejected by the editor.
My tiny cramped desk! Coffee and handwritten first draft on a Paperblank notebook.(I swear to its fine pages! :) 6:22 am; Bergen Norway
The project has no title yet, but I call it " GROUNDWORK" LOL! Can you guess? :) I am 3000 words and 30 pages so far in the draft. Hopefully done by December of this year and start the editing in January of 2025. That's the plan, but then again I always say "No rush.. no hush", i believe, you cannot put a deadline on creativity. Ah! The joy of independent publishing!
Yes, I had to go through the butchering of my first book by my editor but then, one thing I've learned is, it is about words, not me. Working with an editor is like working in a book lab. It is never about the writer, which is kind of difficult to grasp for a novice like me.
The experience can be harsh at times, but then as the feedback gets better, it means the work and your skill is improving, until progress says that, this is it, this book is ready. That conclusion, is somewhat personally and professionally decided on.
